Visa to Expand Technology Hub in Singapore to Accelerate Global Technology Strategy

Company to create and convert 2,000 full-time technology roles, open new tech center in India and invest in Singapore

Singapore - Visa Inc., the global leader in payments, today announced that it will strengthen its technology resources by creating approximately 185 new technology research and development jobs in Singapore. In many cases, contract positions will be converted to permanent roles to maintain momentum around new, critical technology initiatives underway at the company. This is part of a move to expand Visa’s technology resources around the world.

Chris Clark, Group Executive for Visa in Asia Pacific commented: “With growing financial services and IT sectors, Singapore is fast establishing itself as the financial and high-tech hub for the region. We are proud to be expanding our presence here and we aim to tap into the world-class innovation resources as we accelerate the shift to electronic payments and drive innovation in mobile and digital platforms.”

Visa will partner with the Singapore Economic Development Board to help in the recruitment of top technology talent.

Kelvin Wong, assistant managing director at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) said: “We are pleased that Visa has chosen to further strengthen its presence in Singapore by locating one of its key global technology research and development centers here. Visa’s investment is a strong vote of confidence in Singapore’s position as the innovation hub to address the growth opportunities in Asia.

“Its focus on mobile solutions, data analytics, and information security will also draw from a strong base research and development activities and technology infrastructure here in Singapore.”

Visa’s Singapore office expansion is part of a global initiative to add approximately 2,000 technology roles around the world including creating and opening a new global technology center in India. These positions will be a combination of new roles and existing contractor positions that are being converted to full-time roles.
